But we're adjusting.
We headed west to spend the day at the beach. It was an easy drive to Santa Cruz where we went to the boardwalk. I'm not a ride person but The Princess and I did manage to sail above the crowds in a mercifully slow overhead tram. The sun was shining, the sea was sparking---this was clearly not Portland in March.Leaving Santa Cruz I got a happy honk and a wave for my John Edwards bumper sticker which made my day! We drove north along highway 1 and (yes I know I'm repeating myself) it was breathtakingly gorgeous. We spent a couple of breezy hours on the sand at Half Moon Bay, flying kites and collecting shells--a perfect beach visit.

Alas, though--no stop at Bonny Doon vineyards? Our favorite winemaker. They're just outside of Santa Cruz and they have a terrific little tasting room.
Did you see that great beach nestled among the cliffs on your way down highway 1? We stopped there once, we thought it was so beautiful....and then found out it's a nude beach.
Awwww, Santa Cruz... I miss it so! Glad you got some gorgeous weather while you were there.
